Yvonne Costello is a self taught artist, developing much of her drawing skills through her career as an Architect.

​

Yvonne's interest in the built environment stems from childhood, always curious about how architecture is sculpted to form structures with which we interact and admire. Using a range of media to lay depth and life into the scenes, her interest in the urban grain and the perspective of street scenes translates into her artwork.

 

Her semi-abstract landscapes depict scenes from the countrysides of Britain through her love of walking. By applying layers of collage and paint to build colours and textures onto the surface and scraping them back, she evokes the wild and turbulent nature of the skies and moorlands.
